Needle isn’t answering.
After moments of persistent “no” answers, Book gets really angry, and pulls up a Ping-Pong paddle designed (especially designed for this occasion) with the words

“BAD NEEDY”

on it.
This time Needle did respond, with the song ending with Needle’s words “an unfamiliar tongue”.
